Check out this ghost pot that got hung up on our boat prop yesterday when we were heading back from a heron count. You can still see South Point Spoils in the background. The motor automatically cut off as soon as we hit it. Marc jumped in to get it off the propeller. Luckily, it didn’t do any damage to the boat. It was filled with stuff – some dead, some alive. No terrapins, thankfully.

Ghost traps can be a big problem for wildlife of the bays in that they keep on trapping and killing long after they are lost.
