Arlo Hemphill is the Watershed Program Coordinator at the Maryland Coastal Bays Program. He works with a cross-section of our partners and local stakeholders to support the delivery of the Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan, report on MCBP’s annual progress to the EPA and promotes the engagement of the Program as a stakeholder within regional ocean use planning and climate change adaptation efforts. Arlo also works on identifying and building new conservation strategies to promote healthy bays behind Ocean City and Assateague Island. Prior to joining MCBP, Arlo led ocean conservation programs and outreach efforts for organizations such as Conservation International and the Center for Ocean Solutions at Stanford University. He is a Fellow National of the Explorers Club and serves on the Steering Committee of the Sargasso Sea Alliance, an international effort to establish a marine reserve on the Atlantic high seas. Arlo is an avid outdoor enthusiast, enjoying SCUBA diving, backcountry hiking and paddle sports.
